Abandoned

I’m collecting pictures and images of derelict and deserted buildings, so I was quite happy when I stumbled across this page, which is all about derelict buildings in London, as seen by an amateur photographer. Deserted spaces always have a mysterious quality. Something about the life that went on there before but does so no longer. History, or memory, or something like that, lingers there.

Oh, here is another site with abandoned buildings.

I’ll try to avoid becoming too poetic and just let you get your own impression.

True, old buildings in sg are not treasured. The primary and secondary school buildings I studied at were only 10yrs old when I graduated from there 11yrs ago. Two yrs ago, they were demolished and a new building is being built there, in Toa Payoh. The hostel buidling I stayed at on NUS no longer exists.

There are some abandoned staff quarters behind the Science faculty of NUS, near King Edward VII hostel. Also a few old buildings that are fenced up at Tiong Bahru. Great for taking pictures, but soon gone too...

From a government's point of view abandoned buildings are undesirable.

While from our point of view they are beautiful.

Strange, that.
